Aspirational Earth…

My ceramic work is light and reaching like flowers in the field. I make earth reach for the sky by hand-building slowly over the course of weeks, monitoring the dampness so that I can build higher, but not so high that the clay folds in on itself. What appears to be an object caught in a single fragile moment, is actually an object built of many, many fragile moments. However vulnerable my work may appear it is like many things in life: surprisingly resilient.

The time I’ve spent exploring oil, acrylic, calligraphy, soft sculpture, poetry, and performance inform my primary focus of ceramic sculpture.

In ceramics,  I am inspired by  Lucie Rie and Hans Coper.  Abstract influencers include Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Picasso, and Georgia O’Keefe.  Conversations about the nature of art are ever present in my friendships and exploration.
